My Aunt Virginia and Uncle Ernie made a successful trip to Boston, where they were reunited with my dad... Ernie's brother... after DECADES of separation! They treated him to a wonderful time, taking him to the world-famous Legal Seafood and catching up on years of news about family, friends and life. My Uncle Ernie and Aunt Virginia are flying out from Utah to Boston next week to see my Dad. They're going to visit with him for two days. Dad's case worker told them to keep each visit no longer than three hours, because that's about all he can handle mentally/ emotionally. Meanwhile, he gave them a reason why he has stayed away for them for so long... You're gonna have to buy the book (revised version coming in 2011) to find out why!!

My Aunt Virginia recently gave me the joyful news that her husband... My Uncle Ernie, MY FATHER'S BROTHER... spoke with Dad on the phone. Why is this a big deal? Because... consider what a long time went by without me seeing my father: thirty years. Well, it was even longer since my father spoke with any of his siblings... probably closer to forty years. Why, I do not know. But Dad was adamant that he wanted no contact with his family other than me. I had to abide by his wishes.
