Today I received an email from a lady named Ida, who tells me that my father was her first boyfriend, when she was 14 years old. She is now 69. All these years, she tells me, she just KNEW that my dad was still alive. I haven't had the chance to speak with her yet, but I quickly returned her email, letting her know that I'll definitely be in touch... I am so curious to hear what he was like as a teenager! My father's family (way out in Utah and Wyoming) is eager to see my Dad before he deteriorates further. Problem is, when they've tried tracking him down in the past, he'd take off from wherever he was, just as they were closing in on him. Why? That's anyone's guess. My dad's case worker is being careful not to let my father know that I divulged his whereabouts to his brother and sister-in-law.
